Every day too many Queenslanders along with their families and carers, experience the pain, the distress and the struggle of untreatable or terminal illness.

Each month on average, at least seven Queenslanders who are suffering from a terminal, or chronic or degenerative condition commits suicide.

The 2020 Queensland Parliamentary Report into Voluntary Assisted Dying recommends that Voluntary Assisted Dying be legalised and be accessible to Queenslanders, with specific safeguards in place for patients and medical practitioners.

We call on all MPs to commit to supporting Voluntary Assisted Dying for Queenslanders.

When the Drs have no cure and the patient wants the pain to end then they should have a choice.

My mother died of ovarian cancer. Because the cancer covered her intestines like a film it stopped them functioning. She could not eat or digest food for the last 8 months of her life.

She was sent home in this condition “until her body shut down”

That is what a “natural death” is.

    Pain, nausea, fatigue and despair.

You would not be allowed to treat a pet this way. Why do we do it to humans?

How can the Hippocratic oath ALLOW pain?

Palliative care is insufficient for some terminally ill people, who still have to suffer through indignity, fear, dependence on others and a loss of body functions such as swallowing and breathing. VAD offers a compassionate option for end of life suffering and gives terminally ill people some measure of control and dignity.
