This election, dignity is on the ballot paper

Every day too many Queenslanders along with their families and carers, experience the pain, the distress and the struggle of untreatable or terminal illness.

Each month on average, at least seven Queenslanders who are suffering from a terminal, or chronic or degenerative condition commits suicide.

The 2020 Queensland Parliamentary Report into Voluntary Assisted Dying recommends that Voluntary Assisted Dying be legalised and be accessible to Queenslanders, with specific safeguards in place for patients and medical practitioners.

We call on all candidates in the 2020 Queensland Election to commit to supporting Voluntary Assisted Dying for Queenslanders if they are elected on 31 October 2020.

My dad had to literally die of thirst in order to end his suffering; he refused all food and water for a week until he passed. Humane end of life options would have made his last days so much more dignified and less painful.

We are in ‘the lucky Country’ full of humane laws for various situations and processes, however when it comes to end of human life, we are not at all humane in our treatment of each other. We are more humane with our pets and laws ensuring that our pets do not suffer at the end of their lives………something needs to change.

This needs to be a decision an individual can make in the right circumstances

At most stages of our life we can decide what we will do except for dying . Why? Because it is a difficult and emotional time. These are not good reasons for people to have choice.

This should be happening already in this state. We treat animals with more dignity when it comes to ending their lives when they are terminally ill. Catch up QLD

We should have the right of free choice, its our lives, as we would with a animal, also the world is so over populated already, humans are the worst thing that ever happened to it
