Every day too many Queenslanders along with their families and carers, experience the pain, the distress and the struggle of untreatable or terminal illness.

Each month on average, at least seven Queenslanders who are suffering from a terminal, or chronic or degenerative condition commits suicide.

The 2020 Queensland Parliamentary Report into Voluntary Assisted Dying recommends that Voluntary Assisted Dying be legalised and be accessible to Queenslanders, with specific safeguards in place for patients and medical practitioners.

We call on all MPs to commit to supporting Voluntary Assisted Dying for Queenslanders.

It is an essential right to be able to be aided, helped, eased into dying, when suffering is too much and death is far more preferable. Please vote for this to become law.

To have the right to make personal decisions about my end of life at a time of illness with no positive outcome should be mine and mine alone.

I would like the political representatives to put aside their personal fears of death and listen to the growing voices of those of us who (being of sound mind), have stated our wishes of a peaceful not a prolonged death.

Everyone has the right to autonomy over their end of life decisions, especially when considering that pain management can be sub-optimal due to many contributing factors. Everyone has the right to dignity at end of life, feee from fear of pain and free from pain that cannot be managed palliatively. We have an ethical obligation to allow people this right.
