Experts in palliative care welcome call for end-of-life changes
EXPERTS in palliative and end-of-life care have welcomed a proposal from the Productivity Commission for improved funding for such services.
Yvonne Luxford, chief executive of advocacy group Palliative Care Australia, speaks for many: "It is vital that aged-care services are supported to better provide palliative and end-of-life care, both in residential facilities and the community."

The Euthanasia Debate

Euthanasia can be translated to mean “good death.” The phrase is used in reference to the practice of ending a person’s life to alleviate suffering, offering relief to the person who is suffering from debilitating or painful diseases. Mother gets life for heroin death
A mother convicted of murdering her disabled son by injecting him with heroin in a "mercy killing" at a care home in Herts has been jailed for life. Frances Inglis, 57, of Dagenham, Essex, denied murdering Thomas Inglis, 22, on 21 November 2008 and an earlier attempt to kill him on 4 September 2007. But a jury at the Old Bailey found her guilty of both charges. She must serve a minimum of nine years.
